Biosan Secures Chinese Invention Patent for Cultivation of Turkey tail (Trametes versicolor)
Biosan is pleased to announce that it has recently been granted an official Chinese invention patent for its innovative Cultivation Method of Turkey tail Mushroom, marking a major breakthrough in the standardized, large-scale cultivation of this high-value medicinal mushroom.
Turkey tail (Latin name: Trametes veisicolor, Coriolus versicolor), is widely recognized as a medicinal mushroom with exceptional bioactive properties, and has been developed as dietary supplements and natural health products. Traditionally, raw Turkey tail materials have been predominantly sourced from wild collection, a practice that poses persistent and critical challenges to product quality and supply stability.
Wild-harvested Turkey tail suffers from severe quality inconsistencies: raw materials often contain heavy impurities, exhibit unstable polysaccharide content, and are frequently at risk of excessive pesticide residues caused by pesticide drift in natural environments. These drawbacks not only compromise the efficacy and safety of end products but also hinder the sustainable development of the Turkey tail supply chain.
To address these long-standing industry pain points and elevate the quality standard of Turkey tail raw materials, Biosan has launched in-depth research and development initiatives in collaboration with School of Food Science and Pharmaceutical Engineering, Nanjing Normal University, focusing on strain screening, cultivation formula optimization and standardized cultivation techniques. Now, Biosan has successfully achieved full substitution of wild Turkey tail with cultivated products, effectively eliminating safety risks associated with wild sourcing.
